Standard Energy Magnetic Strip Magnets

To make placing your flexible magnetic strip magnets order with Adams Magnetic Products easier, just find the right size on the chart below and note the Item #.

Additional thicknesses, colors, and adhesive choices are available upon request.

If you’re comparing options such as magnetic tape strips and need more strength, our high-energy flexible strip magnets are the solution to your toughest applications.

Let Adams Cut It for You!

Adams can cut, slit, or score a flexible magnetic strip magnet to your required piece size.

Scoring allows the pieces to remain in roll format. This is especially useful when adhesive is applied, and your employees need to pull the magnet from the liner during production. Learn more about flexible magnet fabrication.

Unless otherwise specified, the following tolerances apply to all our magnetic strip products:

  • Thickness: +/- 0.003″
  • Width: +/- 0.030″
  • Custom Lengths: +/-0.060″ or 1%, whichever is greater

Need High Energy?

Adams supplies high-energy flexible magnets in energy levels 1.0 through 1.4. For applications often compared to magnetic tape strips, see our high-energy flexible strip magnets.

Features

Adams’ flexible magnet strip is available plain, or with adhesive to make magnet tape, or with color laminates for labels and displays. We stock several common sizes in rolls, and we offer additional sizes, custom fabrication, splice-free rolls, and special packaging upon request.

Adams’ standard energy magnetic strip magnets generally hold a minimum of one pound per square inch of (.060″ thick) magnet and will adhere and remain flexible at temperatures from -15°F to as high as 160°F. A flexible strip magnet resists demagnetization and will not chip, crack, or shatter when cut, drilled, or flexed.

A standard flexible strip magnet is magnetized with multiple poles along the length of the face, creating concentrated strength on the face of the magnet. However, we are able to offer these other magnetization options:

  • Conventional through width
  • Conventional through the thickness
  • Two poles on each face.

Matched pole magnetization is also available. View magnetization options details.

Performance Considerations in Real-World Applications

Flexible magnetic strip magnets are often selected for environments where moisture, handling, and repeated repositioning are factors, including applications where magnetic tape strips may be considered, but flexibility is required.

The ferrite-based magnetic material used in these strips does not rust and performs reliably in humid or wash-down conditions.

Outdoor exposure is also suitable, though prolonged UV exposure may gradually stiffen the surface over time rather than cause sudden failure.

What Reduces Holding Force

Pull strength values in the pounds pull per foot columns listed on this page assume direct contact with clean, flat steel. In applications where paint, coatings, decals, or surface texture introduce a small gap, the holding force of the magnetic strip magnets will decrease.

Even a thin separation can noticeably reduce magnetic grip, which is why we recommend sample testing when tolerances are tight or coatings vary.

Adhesive Performance on Surfaces

Adhesive performance is also surface-dependent. Rubber-based indoor adhesives provide fast tack on paper products and metal, while acrylic outdoor adhesives are better suited for temperature swings and long-term exposure on higher-energy surfaces.

Plastics with additives may require evaluation before installation.

For best results:

  1. Store the flexible magnet rolls at moderate temperatures.
  2. Keep them away from high-strength rare earth magnets, which can interfere with pole orientation and reduce consistency over time.
