How do I determine the correct pull force for my retail hanging signs?
The required pull force depends on the weight of the sign, mounting orientation, and environmental conditions. For direct vertical pull applications, the retail magnets selected should have a rated pull force that exceeds the total sign weight to provide an added safety margin for vibration, movement, or air currents.
For shear-force applications, where the sign slides against a surface, the effective holding strength is typically reduced to approximately 15%–20% of the magnet’s rated pull force due to gravity and leverage. Can magnetic receptive materials be used on curved surfaces like pillars or rounded displays?
Yes. Flexible magnetic receptive sheets are designed to conform to curved and contoured surfaces, making them ideal for pillars, rounded displays, and other non-flat retail fixtures.
For best results, thoroughly clean the application surface with isopropyl alcohol before installation to promote maximum adhesive bond strength and long-term performance.
What is the difference between a direct print magnet and a magnetic receptive system?
A direct-print magnet is a magnetic sheet material that is printed directly and applied to a ferrous metal surface. These systems are commonly used for removable signage, graphics, and retail displays.
A magnetic receptive system uses a more permanently installed magnetic base layer paired with a lightweight printable receptive graphic film containing iron particles. Because the printed graphic itself is lighter, receptive systems are often preferred for large-format wall graphics, murals, and layered promotional displays that create dimensional or 3D visual effects.
