Primary duties include safely performing a wide range of tasks that include setting up and operating machines used in the production of flexible magnetic strip and sheet products, per customer requirements and according to work order instructions.

Major Responsibilities/Activities

  • Read work orders and perform work as indicated.
  • Perform machining operations on a variety of parts working from blueprints and drawings as needed, while maintaining customer/company specifications.
  • Set up and operate small punch presses, 3” laminating/slitting line, and wide and narrow sheeting equipment.
  • Determine when and how to make adjustments on machines with little supervision.
  • Use micrometer, gauges and calipers to check work.
  • Coordinate with manager on choosing appropriate tooling.
  • Provide assistance with samples, prototyping and process-related improvement.
  • Perform daily maintenance and cleaning on machines being used; maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Notify supervisor of any mechanical or material issues.
  • Follow established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety and environmental standards.
  • Perform other functions as directed by management.

1. Interaction with immediate managers, co-workers, shipping/receiving employees and other company/department members.

Level of Autonomy/Supervisory Authority

1. Works independently and/or with co-workers according to prescribed procedures.
2. No supervisory authority.

Minimum Qualifications Required

1. High school diploma or G.E.D.
2. Previous work experience in machine operation preferred, or two to three years of experience in manufacturing/production setting.
3. Ability to read, write and understand English.
4. Ability to read calipers, micrometers, tape measures and basic blueprints.
5. Basic math skills (i.e. addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
6. Ability to understand and follow safety procedures.
7. Knowledge of light equipment operation and/or maintenance.

Physical Demands

1. Ability to lift, push and/or pull, up to and including 75 pounds.
2. Ability to walk, stand, and reach with hands and arms frequently.
3. Close visual acuity required in order to perform activities such as: read measuring devices, visually inspect parts, and operate machinery within arm’s length.
4. Ability to hear in order to monitor machine noises.
